Before You Start: Documents and Eligibility Checklist
Before opening the portal, get your paperwork in one place. Eligibility is checked on three fronts: age 21–30 years as of December 31 of the preceding year (with age relaxation up to 32 for a few defined categories, including candidates from recognized tribal areas), a Bachelor's degree worth 14 years of education with at least 2nd Division or Grade C from an HEC-accredited institution, and a clean attempt count — CSS allows three attempts at the written exam, and only a submitted, non-blank paper counts against that limit. Keep a valid email address and an active mobile number that hasn't been ported between networks, since a ported number can miss the SMS confirmations the portal sends.

Step 1: Pay the application fee first
Generate a 16-digit PSID and pay through ATM, mobile banking, internet banking, or a bank branch via the 1Link network. Paying doesn't submit anything by itself.
Step 2: Fill in personal information
CNIC, full name, domicile, gender, religion, test centre and interview centre, father's/husband's name, date of birth, address, mobile number and email.
Step 3: Enter education and choose optional subjects
Every qualification from Matric onward, plus your 600-mark optional-subject combination across seven groups — the portal enforces the grouping rules automatically.
Step 4: Upload your photo and supporting documents
A recent, passport-size, plain-background photo under 30 KB, plus attested copies of your CNIC, domicile, and educational certificates.
Step 5: Submit, print, and mail the hard copy
Submitting online locks the application and returns a Tracking ID. For the CSS written exam, you still need to print, sign, and courier the hard copy to FPSC Headquarters before the deadline.
Common Mistakes That Get Applications Rejected
Paying the PSID and stopping there — without going back to finish the form and clicking submit — is the most common one; the fee alone is not an application. Using an old TR-6 form, a cheque, a draft, or a pay order instead of the current 1Link payment method gets a submission rejected outright. Government servants who skip the DPC/NOC step, candidates who list a ported mobile number and never receive their confirmation SMS, and anyone who tries to add experience or documents after submission all run into the same wall: FPSC treats the online form as final. Add a late hard copy or an incorrect optional-subject combination, and the application is typically disqualified regardless of how strong the candidate otherwise is.

FPSC allows exactly one edit before the closing date, through the Edit/Update Application option — enter your CNIC and Tracking ID, make every correction you need in that single pass, and confirm.
